Individual Session - Moves & Turns

Warm Up - Agility/Ladder Work
Cones or any kind of markers can be used as an alternative.

x2 Sets - Two feet in the spaces, focus on quick feet.

x2 Sets - Side to Side.

x2 Sets - Right foot only in the spaces, followed by left foot only in the spaces

x2 Sets - Sprint to the furthest cone/space, backwards side to side through the cones/spaces. Sprint forward.

Ball Manipulation
#1 Inside U:
(R)Drag/Inside
(L) Inside Forward/Drag

#2 Outside U:
(R)Drag/Outside /Inside.
(L) Drag/Outside/Inside.

#3 Sole of the foot Square
(R) Drag Forward, Drag Right
(L) Drag back, Drag Left

Coaching Points - Eyes on the ball, Body Position, Various parts of the foot to keep the ball close and under control.

Square/Turning/Moves
Square 5x5. Player works on various moves inside the square. Trainer/Team mate holds up a cone or points a direction. The player reacts after the move and accelerates through that side of the square. See example.

Coaching Point - Keep the Ball close to your feet, shift your body weight to throw off the defender and make the move/skill believable, create space, change of speed.

Progression - Trainer/Team mate can stand behind the player so that he has to look over his shoulder and scan, see whats around him.

Advancement - Square/Turns/Moves
Advancement on the above - Player Dribbles into the square this time. Works on a move/turn inside the square. Trainer/Team mate holds up a cone or points a direction. The player accelerates through that side of the square. See example.

#4 - Inside Outside

Coaching Point - Dribble in to the square slower, Ball close and under control, Quick Movement/Move/Turn, Accelerate out of the square at speed, Ball under control.

Receive and Turn
Receive a pass from the outside, turn (use various turns) Play out the opposite side. (Repeat)

#1 - Cruyff Turn
#2 - Step Over
#3 - Drag Cruyff Turn
#4 - Drag Back

Progression - Have the opposite player sneak up behind the player to ensure that he looks over his shoulder. He then plays a pass back to his team mate as opposed to turning.
​
Coaching Point - Scan over your shoulder as you receive, In line with the ball before it arrives, step into the line of the ball, quick turn, weighted pass.
